As a volunteer-driven organization, SENA requires your involvement to make a difference. The way to do that is to get involved in one or more of the action groups and committees. These groups work to develop, plan and implement programs designed to better livability in the neighborhoods.

The benefits of an action group/committee member is the opportunity to serve as an advocate for the community by making voices heard and putting ideas into action. A person in this position will see first hand how government works and gain practical experience in group process.

The qualifications of a SENA volunteer are that they be: a resident, employee or business owner in either the Standish or Ericsson neighborhood, and that they have a passion for bettering the community.

The duties of a volunteer are:

  • Attend Action Group or Committee meetings regularly
  • Aid in the completion of group's assignments
  • Participate in group deliberations and discussions
  • Stay focused and action oriented
  • Evaluate own contributions to the group
  • Evaluate the groups contributions to SENA
  • Evaluate relative NRP Programs
